Elizabeth Kelly Perilous Sculpture
Perilous Sculpture is Silver Design Award winner in 2013 - 2014 Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award Category.
Perilous Sculpture

I innovate in moulded glass to create sculptures and architectural features. Colour and form language are the elemental aesthetic considerations in all work I generate, and the ability to tailor make a palette range for each project provides unique outcomes. Permanent transparency and saturation of hue coupled with compressive strength provides an ideal structural material that is characteristically activated by light and space. In researching this work I am fascinated by geometric patterns in three dimensional structures and see great potential applications in contemporary architecture

Elizabeth Kelly has been designing and making coloured glass sculpture at an architectural scale since commencing her business Studio Tangerine more than two decades ago. She incorporates light industrial processes within her studio to generate a unique range of works and is constantly seeking new opportunities to collaborate in contemporary building installation.

Studio Tangerine

I established Studio Tangerine in 2003 from a need for a dedicated studio to research and develop small scale industrial processes of coloured glass applied to architecture, art and design. My practice cannot be easily categorised as I maintain a broad approach to research be it conceptual or technical, and am constantly seeking out original modes of expression. I have a committed passion for exploration of colour and form and am currently focussed on exploring the built environment and patterns in engineering. Underlying this subject is a fascination with the social and historic values imbued in architectural structures and the link to scale and perception. I works collaboratively with architects, designers and sculptors on specific projects, and continues a vigorous exhibition engagement. All studio equipment was purpose built for specific processes vital for a skilled approach to working across disciplines, and in a variety of media. My studio is devoted to the design of equipment that is extremely competitive in combustion efficiency and uses recycled materials and industrial waste wherever possible and in the majority of completed works.
