| DESIGN NAME: Hi Smart PRIMARY FUNCTION: Fully Automatic Coffee Machine INSPIRATION: Simple and modern design, ultra-small dimensions for an automatic machine suitable for small kitchens and offices. The design is inspired by pureness and geometry. It is characterised by precisely formed exterior shells with embossed Lavazza logos on the sides. The simple user interface is placed on the right side by touch buttons only since the details of customization are on your mobile in the app that can control the machine through IOT. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The core element of the Hi Coffee Machine is an innovative horizontal brewing system that can be extracted easily to be washed and a built in milk cooling system, to keep the milk for cappuccino always fresh. The Hi machine can be controlled via touch-activated buttons, the smartphone app or Alexa voice control. Users and roasters can adjust brewing parameters and digital recipes. The machine is IOT connected and can memorize user customized recipes and preferences. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The HI SMART coffee machine is controlled via touch-activated buttons on the machine's user interface or via the smartphone app. Alexa voice control is another way to interact with the machine. The smartphone app enables users to download digital recipes and set their own preferred details. The beans are filled from the top, in the proper container that has a small door for grinded coffee as well. Water tank is accessible on left side from a panel. On same side there is the panel of milk container that has a cooling system to keep the milk fresh. The brewing unit can be extracted from the front door. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Italy and Argentina, on the design side while China on the engineering side, with video meetings and long nights. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The HI SMART Coffee Maker extracts coffee using a horizontal brewing unit that can be extracted and washed easily. The conical burr grinder has a DC motor and is made of hardened steel. The coffee machine is IOT connected so , using the app provided, that works with IOS and Android, the user can customize his preferred coffee settings. The app connects to both your WiFi network and to the machine. The app allows users to set and memorize different settings and recipes. The machine body is made in ABS plastic. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The dimension of the machine are 19.8 x 40.5 x 30.8 h cm. This makes the machine be one of the narrowest on market and fit almost all spaces. Primary target as convenience, cloud connectivity, personalization and premium user experiences. CHALLENGE: The project was developed in a short time frame and it was important to consider al ltechnical limits while developing the design for the established form language of automatic machines in the same market range, looking for a iconic, simple recognizable identity.
