FAQ Entry #274

Home > Support > Frequently Asked Questions > 274

This is a respond to a previously asked question about the A' Design Award and Competition. The full list of frequently asked questions can be accessed here.

#274: I have put a substantial amount of effort into all of our submissions to boost my submission analysis scores and each submission has now gained a 99/100 score. Yet I received a low preliminary score. Could you advise what is required to get a better score then I have received.

The preliminary score and the presentation score a highly different from each other. In some cases, you could get a very high preliminary score such as 9 or 10, but very low presentation score or vice versa; the opposite could also be true; i.e. you could get a very high presentation score, but a very low preliminary score. Basically, the preliminary score is based on your design, and the presentation score (generated automatically by the advanced submission optimizer) is based on the technical properties of your presentation. Your presentation score does not guarantee a higher preliminary score, but in most cases it would help you reach the higher tier award that is indicated in the preliminary score since a good presentation could actually help your design to be perceived better. If you want to improve presentation score follow insights generated by the submission optimizer, if you want to improve preliminary score, try to work more on the design, and its representation, try to change images, and try to communicate the project more clearly. If you already get a Totally Approved status, changing images or making details could decrease your preliminary score as well as increase it.
