| DESIGN NAME: LEATHER BODY JEWELRY PRIMARY FUNCTION: Fashion Accessory INSPIRATION: Before i started my business, i was designer for women labels in Paris.I used to design clothes in my work, and usually used leather which is my favourite fabric;But in this career the real hand made work missed....So i naturally started to create pieces myself,and it was clear for me to start with leather and make my work between clothes and jewelry. Also i've always been attracted by architecture and art sculpture(that i studied) , in which i pick most of my inspiration.But the most of the time , my inspiration come from the feelings when i even saw or hear something that capt my attention. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: this design is a piece between clothes and jewelry. All handmade, with leather and metal, this item, can make a simple look get trendy when you put it on.It is not a jewelry as "jewelry" called....this is fashion art, fashion scuplture, a pieces that i've been made to add personnality , charactere to a look.I call it a "style signature " OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in 2011, in order to making edgy pieces, that can be called as clothes. Pieces that can make a look to be complete. Those pieces as been exhibited in some salon and art exhibitions, cause those can also be viewed more as sculpture than jewelry. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: all handmade work, with real or false leather and metal golden and silvered chains.Each leather piece has been adjusted handmade with cutter, and puted together by sewing them one by one in its place, directly on bust model. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 30 to 40 cms for the height, and the width has been made to be worn by every size.The armholes are big enough to be adjusted to a small and bigger size. TAGS: unique,accessory, leather, body accessory, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: First those pieces are all handmade , from start to the end. The first was to find the leather qualities, that could be thick enough to be worn as a clothe.To pick the good leather quality needed for those pieces, i make sure that it is a maleable quality, an easyly cutten and pricken leather.The leather must not be too thick regarding to the metal chains used.After raw materials as been choose, the fabrication start by cutting each leather pieces , and sewing them directly on a bust model with the metal chains, to be sure that each piece is in its place.Also the leather and metal chains picked have to be in contrast tons. If the leather is shiny, the chains will be be mate and more dark and if the leather is mate then the chain will be more shiny. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of this design activity has been first to pick the good leather quality and thikness to be sure to have the expected design. Sometimes if the leather is too ligh, then we can get a piece looking very ship, and not finished.So the raw materials are the most important point to fix before starting. After come the time that it can take to put each pieces in place. The product look like every has been cutted and putted anywhere, but the thing is that each cutted pieces has been putin those place fonctionnaly. NAME: Sam Séveine PROFILE: Sam Séveine is an accessories and jewelry designer, who started by being fashion designer for women “pret a porter” labels in Paris and by collaborating with some local designers. After spending 5 years working in the industry and perfect herself,she met a jewelry designer which became a friend and show her how to create jewelry, and Sam completely felt in love with creating all handmade products, then started creating jewelry and original pieces that she started to sell to friends and on exhibitions, and after the feedbacks she launched her brand in 2011. Today her pieces are settled in local boutiques, and she's expanding her brand internationally. |
