| DESIGN NAME: Geometry Sudoku PRIMARY FUNCTION: Coffee Table INSPIRATION: The geometry of Sudoku Puzzle forms a triangle geometry which stabilize the top and base as a coffee table. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The coffee table is designed using the method of geometry of a Sudoku puzzle. Sudoku is a number placement puzzle. A puzzle in which a grid consisting of several regions is to be filled with numbers so that every row, column, and region contains only 1 instance of each number. In which filled a square of 6 x 6 grid with the number "1" through "6". Sudoku forms a triangle geometry method in which a strong geometric shape that can stabilize the base of a coffee table as well as the glass top. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2012 in Seattle, Bellevue College and finished in August 2012. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A hand-made piece of Sudoku Coffee Table with 18" x 18" x 1/2" thick glass top and beautiful wooden base in Sapele with 36 wood column that laminated with safe glue. Each column is 9" H x 2 1/2" L x 2 1/2" W. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 18" L x 18" W x 15" H TAGS: Brain challenging, balance, geometry method, sudoku puzzle, coffee table, sapele wood, glass RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The most challenge part of this design was finding the right level on all 36 column to balance the table as whole.
