| DESIGN NAME: Artnouveau Door PRIMARY FUNCTION: Door INSPIRATION: I ve always been dreaming of using the admirable art nouveau lines in a luxurious product..going through the old art nouveau master pieces and noting that such products are rarely designed nowadays because of its need for high design talents together with high craftsmen capabilities where maximum need for harmony between designer and workers is required...this dream of recreating such art products and the challenge of success to put the design to life inspired me to start my design project UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Very precise hand carved art nouveau door carved in beechwood , walnut or cheer wood..mainly the moving part of the door is of carved massive wood..upto 8 cm to 9 cm thickness in the highest level of carving..the fixed side wings and upper surroundings either in the single or double height versions easily jumps to thickness of 15 to 28 cm in the highest carving level...all in massive wood block that reminds viewer of the old classic genuine carve luxury OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The main key and features ruling the operation is the handmade craft and old genuine production techniques where we stay as far as possible from machines and mass production techniques..we use tools used by old eras crafts men to get the same old flavoured textures and genuine classic feel of the pieces we produce...even raw tree glue and raw nails..old dove and tale fixation...wax technique in brass and bronze accessories ...in our factory you must feel as if you went 200 years in the past time in a time machine. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: First design took me about 3 months .. putting the first product to life lasted about 8 months ... then after preparing and having the initial forms from the first product time became about 5 months for each door..we operate in Cairo Egypt FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Product is mainly produced in hand made craft...as a main policy of our products we keep aside of mass production technology because we are so keen to produse a valuable luxurious handmade product having the historical flavour and luxurious taste of handmade precision. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The door is produced in double hight of 2.75 cm X 6.95 cm OR single hight of 2.75 cm X 3.95 cm....packing is in wooden box with inside sufficient fixation means to guarantee safe mobilisation.Stained glass if included is packed separately in foamy surrounding then in wooden box fixed inside the main box. TAGS: Artnouveau, Door, Carved, Luxury, Handmade, Handcraft, Genuine, Massive, Walnut, Beech RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Art nouveau is an international philosophy and style of art, architecture and applied art especially the decorative arts that was most popular during 1890 1910 English uses the French name Art nouveau ,new art, but the style has many different names in other countries. A reaction to academic art of the 19th century, it was inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants, but also in curved lines. Architects tried to harmonise with the natural environment. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was how to blend old lines of the art nouveau with a luxurious modern taste that would be accepted by many nowadays tastes ... according to production challenges..it was mainly how to perform the precise carving reaching depth up to 28 cm..it was a nightmare but we overcame it by inventing new carving tools.
